McElroy performed extended testing and also sought consultation on the cooling procedures — the lengthiest fusion process step — with the University of Tulsa to figure out how long the pipe center needs for proper cooling.
Cool time can be minimized with McElroy Optimized Cooling using a formula that factors in ambient temperature, pipe temperature, climatic conditions, heat soak time and pipe wall thickness for each joint. This technique results in monumental time savings for the full fusion process, by saving days or even weeks on the job.
