The Powerful Talon Saves the Day in Bradley Lake
Bradley Lake in Alaska is home to the largest hydroelectric facility in “The Last Frontier” of the United States. A few years ago, the facility underwent a massive $40+ million project aimed at expanding the facility which provides power to more than five electric utilities in the Railbelt area.
For pipe fusion needs, none other than the McElroy® Talon 2000 was used to efficiently manage 53” HDPE pipe as the hydroelectric dam was built. This machine is a massive, powerful tool designed to take on large diameter pipe. As McElroy’s largest current fusion machine, the Talon is built for hefty demands where outdated infrastructure needs to be replaced. It is self-propelled and can even lift the pipe safely from the ground while positioning it for proper fusion. Although it was used for 63” pipe with the Bradley Lake project, the Talon can go as low as 54” OD or as high as 78” OD in pipe sizes should the scenario demand it.
